Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll handle a wide array of critical duties to keep operations running smoothly:

• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitization of all food and beverage outlets, kitchens, dinnerware, and equipment.
• Manage setup and takedown of kitchen and outlet areas, establishing rotating cleaning calendars for special projects.
• Assist the executive committee in budgeting, staffing to forecasts, and controlling theft and waste.
• Train staff on dishwashing equipment, processes, and safety; ensure prompt trash removal and supply management.
• Monitor dishware, glassware, pots, and pans; requisition supplies and coordinate equipment repairs with maintenance.
• Research new products with vendors, prevent pests and mold, and foster employee engagement through recruitment, training, and performance coaching.
• Deliver genuine hospitality, resolving guest issues with empathy and teamwork to exceed expectations.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed as a Steward at Choice Hotels, candidates should possess:

• Minimum one year of management experience in full-service stewarding operations.
• At least three years of experience in hotel food and beverage.
• High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate, resolve conflicts, and multitask under pressure.
• Basic computer proficiency in MS Office, reservation systems, and point-of-sale systems.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift 50 pounds regularly, push/pull up to 150 pounds, and work flexible schedules including long hours.
