The Summer Warehouse Technician position at PepsiCo's Ottawa, Ontario food manufacturing facility offers post-secondary students a hands-on, value-added experience in plant operations. This full-time summer role, running from May through September, requires availability up to and including Labour Day weekend. You'll work various shifts between 7am-11pm, including weekends, and overnight shifts from 11pm-7am. As a Summer Warehouse Technician, your daily tasks will keep the facility running smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include unloading cardboard and returned products from route trucks and processing them into inventory. You'll sort, stack, and bundle cardboard for recycling or disposal, ensuring environmental responsibility. Order picking is a core function, utilizing voice-directed technology or handheld scanners for full-case picking, as well as individual items via the pre-pick module or cart system. Loading route trucks with products using roller carts or manual handling demands precision and safety. Additionally, you'll maintain general housekeeping and sanitation to uphold facility cleanliness, follow safe work practices like proper lifting techniques, and participate in team meetings.
To succeed in this role, candidates must have completed a high school diploma or GED equivalent and be currently enrolled in a post-secondary education program in Canada. Availability for full-time work throughout the summer, including all shifts—afternoons, nights, weekends, and overnight—is essential. Physical demands include frequent standing, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, squatting, climbing, reaching, grasping, and stair climbing, with the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Great teamwork, excellent communication skills, and flexibility are key. Prior experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments is preferred but not required, making this an accessible entry-level opportunity for students.
