Position Summary

As a Surface Land Negotiator in Kenedy, TX, you'll collaborate with an Asset Team including Engineering, Geology, Financial, Mineral Land, HSE, Supply Chain, and Legal experts. Your decisions will directly influence the development of ConocoPhillips’ Eagle Ford assets. Expect frequent interactions with private landowners, attorneys, other operators, co-owners, and local, state, and federal agencies. This role demands strong communication and teamwork in a dynamic oil and gas environment.

What You Will Do

Your day-to-day responsibilities will drive surface land acquisitions and compliance in the fast-paced Eagle Ford operations:

  • Negotiate strategic transactions to acquire, trade, or divest surface real estate and rights-of-way, including document drafting, negotiations, title review, and closing.
  • Prepare financial and market analyses for property purchases or leases.
  • Lead survey crews to plat road and pad locations for permitting.
  • Ensure contractual compliance with surface provisions in oil and gas leases.
  • Acquire rights for facilities, infrastructure, and oil/gas offtake.
  • Secure water rights for drilling and completion operations.
  • Obtain road and driveway permits from local, state, and federal authorities.
  • Assess market rates and negotiate surface damages with landowners.
  • Perform title review and curative work for surface rights acquisitions.
  • Utilize software like Quorum, SAP, Generwell, OnBase, Wellview, and ArcGIS.
  • Represent ConocoPhillips with outside operators, co-owners, landowners, and government entities.
