Position Summary

As a Surface Landman - Upstream based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, you will play a pivotal role in managing surface land activities for our operated assets, with a strong focus on Wyoming operations. This mid-level position involves working closely with operations, regulatory, legal teams, and external stakeholders like private landowners, grazing lessees, federal agencies (BLM), and state organizations (Wyoming Oil & Gas Conservation Commission). You'll ensure seamless surface access, compliance, and project alignment from exploration through reclamation. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic analysis, interpretation, and preparation of surface-related contracts, ensuring full compliance with legal and operational standards.
  • Oversee the review and resolution of title requirements in surface title opinions, providing expert analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage coordination with brokers to drive land acquisition for exploration and development projects.
  • Monitor and control prospect budgets, taking responsibility for accurate surface ownership determination.
  • Negotiate and draft industry-standard agreements, including surface use, damages, access, and road use agreements.
  • Prepare and execute supporting legal documents for transactions, maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Coordinate with asset teams on planning for well sites, water use, access roads, pipelines, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Support permitting with Wyoming Oil & Gas Conservation Commission, BLM, and State Lands.
  • Proactively resolve surface access issues to keep projects on schedule.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, performance-driven team setting.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Land Management, Business, or Finance and four (4) years of land-related experience.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Land Management, Business, or Finance and five (5) years of land-related experience.

Skills and Other Requirements

  • Strong Wyoming surface experience, including work with private landowners, grazing lessees, federal, and state agencies.
  • Familiarity with federal surface requirements and drilling, completions, production, and reclamation operations.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as the top priority.
  • Proficiency in land systems, GIS, Microsoft Office, and PC applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver timely results in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations within Wyoming.
