As a CDL A Delivery Truck Driver at Sysco Northern New England in Saco, Maine, you will be a vital link in our supply chain, ensuring that our customers receive the products they need, when they need them. Your day typically begins early in the morning, preparing your truck for the day's deliveries. This includes performing pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition and loading the truck with the products for your route. You'll then navigate your assigned route, making deliveries to various customer locations, such as restaurants, hotels, and other foodservice establishments.
At each stop, you'll manually unload the products, often using a hand cart or hand truck to move items from the truck to the customer's storage area. This requires physical strength and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 100 pounds. You'll also interact with customers, taking orders, answering questions, and addressing any concerns they may have.
Throughout the day, you'll maintain accurate delivery logs and records, track your progress, and communicate with dispatch to ensure smooth operations. Safety is paramount, and you'll adhere to all traffic laws and company safety procedures. At the end of your route, you'll perform a post-trip inspection of the vehicle and prepare it for the next day's deliveries.
