The Buyer position at FreshPoint Dallas, a Sysco company, is a critical role responsible for procuring high-quality fresh produce and related products to meet the needs of our customers. The Buyer plays a vital role in ensuring that the company can maintain sales and margins, all while staying in line with company sourcing policy.

A Day in the Life of a Sysco Buyer

Each day, the Buyer will review product sales to determine what inventory needs to be ordered. They cut purchase orders (PO), and review PO confirmations to make sure everything aligns with order. A physical review of inventory is done daily with an increased focus on critical or sensitive items. They will handle all credits and returns promptly in order to minimize shrink. They will also work with the pricing department, vendors, and corporate to ensure all PO’s are priced correctly. They will also plan and source logistics to support customers and maximize profitability. Finally they will coordinate with sales to maximize the timely utilization of all inventories to maximize inventory turns and reduce inventory shrink, as well as maintain the accuracy and stay up to date on all item maintenance, including COO (country of origin), local, etc.
