Position Summary
Sonoco is seeking an innovative Technical Engineer III to join our Global Technology & Engineering team in Hartsville, SC. This mid-level role offers a dynamic opportunity to lead and manage projects in new product developments, process improvements, equipment designs, and technology commercialization. You'll provide project management leadership, technical training, and drive continuous improvements for our industrial converting divisions, working with a fun, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project management for product, process, equipment, and materials developments/improvements
- Oversee commercialization of internal/external technologies and optimization projects
- Provide technical support, training, and innovation idea development
- Manage project timelines, expenses, and teams effectively
- Collaborate across operations, quality, commercial, and technical functions
- Travel as required and contribute to competitive strategies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- Proven project management experience, ideally with MS Project/Planner
- Strong skills in time/expense management, problem-solving, and process improvement
- PMP Certification and CAD knowledge (Solidworks, Inventor) are pluses
- Paper/converting industry experience highly valued
