Key Responsibilities at Datadog

• Lead investigations into complex APM escalations, resolving issues like missing traces, partial spans, performance anomalies, broken tagging, and incorrect service representations.
• Conduct high-impact technical calls, fact-finding meetings, and deep-dive analyses to deliver precise solutions for critical customer challenges.
• Build reusable tooling, trace analysis workflows, and troubleshooting documentation to enhance APM supportability at global scale.
• Partner directly with Engineering and Product teams to validate backend behaviors, flag instrumentation gaps, and influence the evolution of Datadog's APM tooling.
• Run engaging office hours, deliver learning sessions, and mentor the Global Support Engineering (GSE) team to elevate APM expertise worldwide.
• Develop deep domain authority in APM, owning distributed tracing, service dependencies, and instrumentation across cloud-native applications.
• Proactively identify platform gaps and customer needs, advocating for improvements that boost reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Continuously learn evolving product features, adapting to new technologies and priorities in observability and security.
• Collaborate across Technical Solutions, Engineering, Product, and Customers to redefine solutions for modern cloud challenges.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Technical Expertise: 3+ years in technical support, solutions engineering, SRE, or similar roles with hands-on APM and distributed tracing experience.
• Problem-Solving Prowess: Proven track record tackling ambiguous, high-stakes issues in cloud environments like AWS, Kubernetes, and microservices.
• Customer Focus: Experience in client-facing roles, turning complex technical problems into opportunities for enhanced experiences.
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar for tooling, automation, and trace analysis.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Ability to mentor teams, lead enablement, and partner cross-functionally with engineering stakeholders.
• Fast Learner: Thrives in dynamic settings, quickly mastering new technologies and Datadog's evolving platform.
