Position Summary

The Technical Specialist (Rotating Equipment) plays a critical role in maintaining Williams' advanced horsepower and power distribution systems for data center facilities. This hands-on position involves working with state-of-the-art compressors, turbines, high-speed reciprocating engines, medium voltage generators, and environmental control systems. You'll troubleshoot complex issues, optimize equipment performance, and contribute to construction projects ensuring 99.99% uptime for mission-critical energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair rotating machinery including compressors, turbines, pumps, and reciprocating engines using oil & gas industry best practices
  • Lead or support maintenance planning and execution to maximize reliability and performance of critical rotating assets
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement preventive solutions

Performance Optimization & Compliance

  • Evaluate rotating equipment performance metrics and recommend upgrades for enhanced lifespan and efficiency
  • Review engineering design documents, contracts, P&IDs, and technical standards to ensure compliance with API, ASME, and industry regulations
  • Maintain accurate records, CMMS entries, and compliance documentation for audits

Team Collaboration & Development

  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to sustain system integrity and minimize downtime
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on rotating equipment diagnostics, vibration analysis, and best practices
  • Participate in project planning for new installations, upgrades, and expansions involving rotating equipment

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in mechanical technology, engineering technology, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum 6 years of oil & gas industry experience with primary focus on rotating equipment maintenance
  • Valid State Driver's License with clean driving record

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven hands-on experience maintaining compressors, turbines, pumps, and generators
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS systems, and PC-based diagnostic tools
  • Preferred: Experience with PLCs, HMIs, Allen Bradley systems, SCADA platforms
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Unwavering commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, loud/noisy environments, and confined spaces
  • Lift up to 50 lbs independently; team lift heavier loads
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, squat for 8+ hours; work at heights using ladders/scaffolding
  • Available for shift work, on-call rotations, nights, weekends, holidays
  • Occasional travel to other Williams facilities with overnight stays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 10+ years progressive experience in field operations, mechanical reliability engineering, or rotating equipment specialization
  • Vibration analysis certification (Level II or higher), API 510/570 certifications
