Position Summary

Williams is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Specialist to join our team in Shreveport, Louisiana. In this critical role, you will support the daily operational control of sophisticated voice and data telecommunications LAN/WAN systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical services for the daily operational control of large, complex voice, data telecommunications, and LAN/WAN systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, test, and maintain all telecom/network equipment and on-site DC power systems, including batteries (12V, 24V, 48V), rectifiers, generators, fuse panels, solar panels, and grounding.
  • Coordinate with SCADA, Gas Control, Network Services, local operations, and company partners to ensure seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with Telecommunications Engineers and Specialists to maintain reliable operations of the company's telecommunications assets.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in specialties, geographic areas, or operational functions, applying specialized knowledge to complete projects and work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, always prioritizing safety.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

This role demands physical resilience: work in extreme temperatures, loud noises, and enclosed spaces; carry/lift up to 50 lbs individually or team lift heavier loads; stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periods; operate at elevated heights using man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, or small towers with proper PPE; and use hand tools effectively.

Shift and Travel Expectations

Be prepared for 24-hour call-outs, after-hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Daily travel via company vehicle is required, with occasional overnight stays.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED, technical/trade school certification, or military electronics training, plus a minimum of eight (8) years' experience in telecommunications, operations, or maintenance.
  • Preferred: Associate's or two-year technical school degree in electronics, military electronics training, valid FCC license, telecommunications certificate, or license.

Skills and Other Requirements

  • Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as the utmost priority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PC skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and build partnerships.
  • Currently reside or willing to relocate within 30 miles of Shreveport, LA.
  • Knowledge of communications services including TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, T1, Wireless, etc.
