What the Role Entails
This role provides legal support across cloud computing, technology licensing, and product compliance for Tencent’s global businesses. You will draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and software licensing agreements, while advising on regulatory and compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions. Working closely with internal teams and international external counsel, you will identify legal risks, design practical solutions, and maintain alignment with global regulatory standards. The role also involves improving internal policies, strengthening knowledge management, and delivering training on compliance topics.
The ideal candidate brings at least three years of experience in technology-focused legal work, strong academic credentials, and solid exposure to IP, open-source, and technology licensing. You should be detail-oriented, commercially minded, able to manage end-to-end transactions independently, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English, and enthusiasm for cloud and emerging technologies are essential.1.Advise on a wide range of legal and commercial matters in the areas of cloud computing, technology licensing and product compliance.
2.Draft, review, and negotiate complex software license agreements, professional services agreements, and other general commercial agreements.
3.Collaborate with external counsel and other Tencent attorneys based around the world, including in mainland China, Singapore, EU, and the US, to provide compliance and regulatory analysis and advice for international business initiatives.
4.Identify potential legal issues and pitfalls and devise creative solutions for business teams to efficiently mitigate compliance risks.
5.Develop and continuously identify areas of improvement in our internal policies, case and knowledge management, trainings, and processes to ensure operational efficiency and implement practices for alignment with international regulatory standards.
6.Develop online training materials and conduct training sessions on compliance and regulatory topics for business stakeholders.

Who We Look For
1. You have three or more years of experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department, in the areas of technology, online platforms, software developers or similar clients.
2.You have strong academic credentials and are a member of a relevant Bar or you possess other recognized professional qualifications or equivalent membership. Degree in Computer science or similar subject is additionally preferred.
3.You have sound business judgement and the ability to deliver practical, commercially friendly and comprehensive advice.
4.You are passionate about IP, open source and technology licensing, and possess broad experience in open source software projects and compliance processes.
