Consider before submitting an application:This position is expected to start around January 2026 and continue through the Winter/Spring term (ending approximately May 2026) or continuing into Summer 2026 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.The Internship Recruiting Team is driven by the passion to recognize and develop emerging talent. The Technical Writer Intern will join the Tesla Industrial Energy Product Management team, which is responsible for the large-scale industrial energy storage products, including Megapack and Powerpack, that fulfill a key role in Tesla’s mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. This team defines, launches, and maintains products across global markets, while supporting the ongoing development of technical content and collateral for global sales, finance, engineering, and above all, Tesla customers.This internship is a unique opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals who are pioneering technologies that will transform the energy landscape. As a member of the Product Management team, will be required to support multiple projects at once and help conceive of new pivotal content process initiatives in a fast-paced work environment. You will work with various subject matter experts across disciplines, including project engineers, software developers, IT managers, and other technical writers to develop and own content and content processes that serve a variety of battery hardware, power systems, and related software functionality. The content itself meets the highest standards of quality for a partner audience and can include a variety of deliverables such as specifications, installation guides, design manuals, owner's manuals, graphics and videos, terminology databases, and API documentation, all of which put the end-user first.   • Strong knowledge of content development tools such as DITA-based XML authoring tools, Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat Pro (experience)
  • Experience using collaboration and productivity tools such as Atlassian JIRA and Confluence, and the Microsoft Office Suite (experience)
  • Experience with Ux writing principles and best practices in digital application information architecture (experience)
  • Agility and ability to pivot, manage conflicting priorities, drop and take up work as needed, and learn new things (experience)
  • Strong curiosity about and passion for Tesla’s mission (experience)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members (face-to-face, virtually, and via e-mail and chat) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Interview and collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather and document information and content processes
  • Develop concise and targeted technical content using a variety of authoring tools
  • Edit, revise, and transform raw content from a variety of sources
  • Interact directly with hardware and/or software products to understand how they work in order to create content more effectively with the end-user in mind
  • Drive consistent use of terminology and foster tools that help others do the same
  • Fueled by this work, project-manage processes and play a key role in establishing programs that optimize and accelerate these processes
