Job Description

The Low Voltage Hardware team designs circuit boards which control hundreds of devices (motors, actuators, sensors, LEDs, etc) across all electrical systems (seats, doors, HVAC, powertrain, safety, chassis, lighting, etc) in Tesla’s autonomous robotaxi vehicles.

Required Qualifications

  • Circuit board design (Altium preferred) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, component selection, power dissipation, etc.) (experience)
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal) (experience)
  • Ability to tackle open-ended challenges using first-principles (experience)
  • Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, etc.) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shipping high-volume circuit boards preferred (experience)
  • Basic programming ability (Python preferred) (experience)
  • Knowledge of automotive design requirements preferred (experience)
  • Design for autonomous vehicles (fail-safe redundancy) preferred (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Start-to-finish hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, manufacturing, bringup, and validation of circuit boards
  • Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, mechanical, program management, and validation teams
  • Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, validation results, etc.
  • Rapidly iterate as design requirements and product features mature over time
