1.1.1    Telecommunication  E2E System/Ground Tools System Engineer/Architect – Job profile description

Activity in the frame of Institutional System: Italian nationality preferred.

Main Role (System Engineer – Solution):

To provide specialized engineering expertise in the frame of  E2E systems and Ground Segment sub-systems and components, in terms of  design and analyses,  in all phases of a space project life cycle, from design specification to manufacturing, integration,  verification phases, up to operations.

The role will be focused in the frame of E2E systems and processed payloads with focus on definition of Ground Tools aimed to improve E2E performance (e.g. interference detection, mission planning, signal analyses, …).

Expertize in the frame of Secure TTC systems is a valuable asset as well capability to define SW requirement and to validate SW products.

He/She perform System / Subsystem Performance Analyses with the aim to finalize breakdown to components requirements (e.g. Link Budget, BER evaluation and code correction performance, Coverage Analyses and pointing Loss, Linearity and distortions, Phase Noise and phase jitter simulation, switching stack probability, resource assignment and Mission Planning simulation, …)

Experience / Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physic or equivalent, with a specialization which includes telecommunication or RF electronics engineering, and a votation >105/110
  • On Ground System design, Mission Planning
  • 2-4 years related work experience in RF engineering possibly in space industry environment is a valuable asset
  • Knowledge of payload architecture, design and manufacturing:
    • RF equipment, repeater and antenna subsystem
    • Link budget and capacity assessment
    • Waveform, ModCod as well as TLC standard protocol knowledge (5G, DVB, …)
    • Repeater RF performance measurement
    • Integration and testing
    • Quality control essentials
  • Knowledge of UHF and L Band technologies and Internet of Things architectural concepts is a valuable asset
  • Usage of SW design tools (STK, Satsoft, MATLAB) is a valuable asset
  • Experience in antenna and payload equipment procurement activities is an asset
  • Experience in programming languages (Java/C) and payload computer simulation (Matlab, Simulink) and design tools is an asset
  • Excellent English communications skills both written and oral
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and systems
  • Ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines
  • Good analytical, organizational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies
  • Great team working attitude
  • Availability to work at Customer premises in Vigna di Valle for at least 50% of yearly working days is a valuable asset
