Our Munitions teams in Benalla and Mulwala produce propellants, explosives and munitions for defence and commercial uses. With ongoing investment into research and development, we produce some of the world’s most high-performing guided weapons and explosive ordnance systems. And being at the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry gives our teams constant opportunities to build on their technical expertise.

YOUR ROLE

Provide strategic leadership and direction for Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) across the Mulwala and Benalla sites, which are licenced Major Hazard Facilities (MHF).

The role leads a multi-disciplinary team and partners closely with site management and functional leaders to:

  • Build and embed a strong, proactive safety and wellbeing culture
  • Ensure effective management of HSE and process safety risks
  • Implement and continuously improve HSE, explosives safety, and environmental management systems
  • Support business performance through safe, sustainable and compliant operations

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Lead, coach, and develop the team while demonstrating a strong safety culture.
  • Integrate HSE into strategic and operational decisions, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Implement, maintain, and improve HSE management systems and drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee risk, incident, and emergency management across site operations.
  • Lead environmental programs, manage reporting obligations, and ensure sustainability compliance.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and provide clear communication and reporting on HSE performance.

AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/. In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role. Preferred Qualifications
