Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Praha, Czechia

Thales people architect identity management and data protection solutions at the heart of digital security. Business and governments rely on us to bring trust to the billons of digital interactions they have with people. Our technologies and services help banks exchange funds, people cross borders, energy become smarter and much more. More than 30,000 organizations already rely on us to verify the identities of people and things, grant access to digital services, analyze vast quantities of information and encrypt data to make the connected world more secure.

Thales in the Czech Republic employs over 400 people from 45 different nationalities. A total of 15 teams work on projects for government agencies, banking, mobile services and the Internet Of Things (IoT) technology. At the core of our business is the development of software which we configure and embed in a multitude of different devices and form factors. These include many kinds of payment cards, SIM cards, travel passes, secure eBanking devices, authentication tokens, machine identification modules (MIM), and secure ID documents including ePassports, eID and eHealth cards, as well as eDriving licenses. Because of the international environment surrounding us every day, it comes as no surprise that English is our official corporate language.

At Thales, we’re a global leader in technology, delivering critical solutions across aerospace, defense, digital security, and transportation. Here, innovation is not just welcomed—it’s encouraged. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your code!

Mission:

  • Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code.
  • Help diagnose and fix bugs or performance bottlenecks.
  • Learn and apply software engineering best practices.
  • Attend team meetings and share your ideas—no question is too small or too big!

What We’re Looking For:

  • Current student pursuing a degree (Master’s) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Java Programming Language (coursework or personal projects).
  • Basic understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts.
  • Interest in software development practices (version control, unit testing, etc.).
  • Willingness to learn new frameworks and technologies (Spring, Maven, etc.).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and a sense of humor appreciated!

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with SQL or any database system.
  • Exposure to software version control tools (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Previous internship or project experience.

What We Offer:

  • Guidance from experienced engineers and mentors.
  • Exposure to real-world Java development in a leading tech company.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful projects and see your code in action.
  • Flexible working hours (study first, code second).
  • A modern, collaborative, and supportive work environment (with optional coffee-fueled debugging sessions).
  • Potential for future employment or reference at Thales.
