The Role: Logistics Operator

Join a fast-paced logistics team where no two days are the same! As a Logistics Operator, you’ll play a key role in the movement, control, and distribution of parts and materials across the Garden Island precinct. You’ll support production and repair teams by ensuring inventory accuracy, smooth material flow, and compliant shipping activities—keeping operations running efficiently end to end.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle, store, and issue parts, components, and materials to support production, integration, repair, and replacement activities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including acceptance, incoming/outgoing transactions, and ERP updates.
  • Organise and conduct stocktakes, investigate variances, and drive continuous improvement in warehouse processes.
  • Coordinate onsite logistics operations such as shipping, receiving, packaging, internal transport, and kit preparation for manufacturing teams.
  • Manage shipments and delivery routing—ensuring compliance with export/import regulations, transport requirements, and contractor performance.
  • Oversee finished goods and spare parts warehousing, ensuring smooth customer deliveries and logistics partner coordination.

Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Solid understanding of production, repair and supply chain processes, including inventory and flow-management principles.
  • Experience using ERP systems and industrial/supply chain IT tools, with confidence in dashboards, data analysis and decision support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using Lean and continuous improvement methods (PDCA, Gemba walks, flow management).
  • Ability to plan, analyse operational issues and contribute to medium–long term improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborative, transparent communicator who supports team growth, empowers others and adapts quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current forklift licence.

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO APPLY

After you have applied, you will receive an email acknowledging your application. We’ll then provide a personalised experience for suitable applicants as we progress the selection and assessment process. Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police checks.

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.  To learn more about clearances please visit – http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/ #LI-SG1

It’s easy to dismiss the perfect opportunity if you don’t see yourself as the perfect fit. If this role feels right – no matter your background or personal circumstances – please introduce yourself or join our community. We’re committed to supporting a diverse workplace, and that starts here.

We’re proud to be endorsed by WORK180 as an Employer for All Women, but we know there’s always more we can do. We’ll continue to foster industry partnerships, employee resource groups (ERGs) and development opportunities to make Thales a genuinely equitable employer, for everyone.
