About Your Role:

Opportunity for a NDT Technical Officer to join our Above Water Systems team based in Garden Island. Working under the functional direction of the NDT Supervisor, you will carry out hands on test & inspections on Commercial & Naval Assets including platform, weapon and combat systems as appropriate.  Develop and exhibit a deep understanding and working knowledge of NDT techniques and processes, especially those undertaken in marine engineering and the ship repair industry. 
 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake routine NDT tasks as directed and guided by the NDT Laboratory Manager.

  • Assist NDT Laboratory Manager with requirements of internal and external clients to provide an optimal NDT service that meets quality, timelines and cost targets.

  • Advise NDT Laboratory Manager in recommending, justifying, and the upkeep of scientific equipment

  • Assist in training / mentoring NDT Technicians level 2, level 1 and trainees in techniques that they are certified or proficient.

  • Prepare Test Requests and reports for tests in accordance with Level 3 work authorisation.

  • Attend regular departmental meetings with NDT Laboratory Manager to build in continuous feedback mechanisms.

  • Undertake and competently perform proficiency tests to gain authorisation to work and release documentation for tests that they hold ISO9712 certification.

  • Liaison directly with internal and external customers on requirements and maintain schedules

  • Participate and make relevant decisions consistent with the delivery of quality service to clients.

How About You?

  • ISO 9712 Level 2 certification in Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant & Ultrasonic or Radiographic Testing.

  • Certificate 3 in relevant Trade or Technical Discipline by a Technical College

  • Practical experience in industrial environment.

  • Working knowledge of ship structures and terminology is advantageous.

  • Some knowledge of Defence systems is an advantage.

About Your Role:
