The Assistant Area Delivery Manager supports the Area Delivery Manager in delivering safe, compliant, and high-performing fulfilment operations. This role plays a critical part in coordinating fulfilment teams, ensuring service excellence across The Warehouse Group brands, and supporting the ongoing commercial viability of the business. 

With direct leadership responsibility for a small team, this role is ideal for a developing operational leader who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about people leadership, safety, and continuous improvement. 

 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

Operational Support & Performance 

  • Support the Area Delivery Manager in achieving DC operational performance targets 

  • Deliver service level agreements, customer and store service KPIs, and stock control targets 

  • Ensure customer and fulfilment records are accurately maintained 

  • Ensure the movement and storage of goods is completed effectively and efficiently 

People Leadership 

  • Line manage, coach, and develop a team of fulfilment leaders and team members 

  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, scheduling, and training to meet safety and operational requirements 

  • Build a high-performance culture aligned to company policies and values 

Safety & Compliance 

  • Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations and company policies 

  • Promote a proactive safety culture through training, engagement, and regular audits 

  • Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and contribute to a safe working environment 

Stakeholder Collaboration 

  • Work closely with Store Managers, DC Managers, Merchandising, and Category Buying teams to align operations with business objectives 

  • Partner with the Safety Partner and HRBP on people, wellbeing, and compliance matters 

  • Collaborate with NLG Accounts Payable, Fleet, and Facilities & Maintenance teams to support seamless operations 

  • Build strong working relationships with 3PL logistics partners and suppliers to ensure service quality and reliability 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations and ways of working 

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance customer outcomes 

  • Use data and insights to support informed decision-making and operational improvements 

Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, distribution, or fulfilment operations 

  • Proven experience leading or supervising teams in an operational environment 

  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and compliance 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders 

  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to use data to drive outcomes
