Description

The Area Delivery Manager is responsible for overseeing customer fulfilment operations across Wellington, including managing the online dark store, last-mile customer deliveries, and distribution to Wellington stores. This pivotal role ensures operational excellence, delivery performance, and the highest levels of customer satisfaction. 
As a key leader, you will prepare for future multisite operations, drive change initiatives, and foster a strong safety-first culture. This role is ideal for an inspiring leader who thrives in a multicultural, dynamic, and fast-paced environment. 

Key Responsibilities Include: 

Operational Leadership 

  • Manage end-to-end customer fulfilment operations, including the online dark store and last-mile delivery network. 

  • Oversee the distribution of goods to Wellington stores, ensuring timely and accurate replenishment. 

  • Plan and implement strategies for multisite operations, driving efficiency across locations. 

  • Continuously improve key operational metrics, such as on-time delivery and productivity. 

People Leadership 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance. 

  • Enhance employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction through targeted strategies. 

  • Manage workforce challenges, including recruitment, performance, and training. 

Change Management 

  • Drive change initiatives to improve operational processes and support business growth. 

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure smooth transitions during change. 

  • Anticipate and mitigate challenges, maintaining team morale and alignment. 

Safety & Compliance 

  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies. 

  • Promote a proactive safety culture through training, audits, and regular engagement. 

  • Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and maintain a safe working environment. 

Stakeholder Collaboration 

  • Work closely with internal teams, including Store Managers, Merchandising, and HR, to align operations with business objectives. 

  • Build strong relationships with 3PL logistics partners and suppliers to ensure service reliability. 

  • Collaborate with finance, fleet, and facilities teams to support seamless operations. 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. 

  • Use data and analytics to inform decisions and drive operational improvements. 

  • Develop and execute plans to support business growth and evolving customer needs. 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or delivery management, preferably in a multisite environment. 

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating large, multicultural teams. 

  • Expertise in change management and the ability to lead teams through transitions. 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Analytical mindset with a passion for continuous improvement. 

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and fostering a safety-first culture. 

  • Familiarity with logistics systems and technologies is an advantage.
