Location/Division Specific Information

Thebarton, South Australia – Microbiology Division

About the Role:

As part of the Site Operations Team, the EHS Specialist is accountable for ensuring EHS management systems are fully in place and in use at the Adelaide site. This role is part-time (0.5 FTE) with flexibility in working days if required for the right candidate.

What You'll Do:

  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness on site.
  • Serve as a technical resource to the company in complex areas of EHS Compliance, risk management, hazardous materials/waste, industrial hygiene, industrial safety, and/or ergonomics
  • Manage and monitor local EHS management systems to ensure site compliance with legislative, corporate and divisional standards.
  • Oversee the site's Accident and Incident reporting process. Participate in incident investigations, ensuring root cause and countermeasure identification is completed to eliminate future injury. Collate safety and environmental data for the site identify trends alongside improvement plans.
  • Generate regular reporting of all EHS metrics and key performance indicators both at the site and corporate level
  • Review, own and maintain the site emergency plan.
  • Coordinate the site risk assessment program.
  • Schedule, manage, and chair strategic Safety Meetings for senior site management and Health & Safety Committee meetings for staff representation.
  • Maintain routine safety and environmental reports and records (First aid training, EPA compliance, SDSs)
  • Arrange safety and environmental training as required
  • Represent the site on safety and environmental matters at divisional and third-party events.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • 2-5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of local health and safety legislation and its practical application in the workplace
