Motivation for the assignment:
Thermo Fisher service engineers globally do 500+ software updates annually to ensure microscope health! The Field Service Engineer plays a crucial role in the execution of system health checks! Automating self-tests boosts efficiency and independence, ensuring more time is available to support the customer. Goal is to develop automatic scripting tests for engineers to complete at customer sites for system health!
Key elements of this assignment:
Success criteria: Main criteria is for the solution to be accepted by collaborators.
Efficiency Improvement: We seek to significantly improve efficiency by automated self-test of basic system status which will reduce the time required for system health checks after a service visit.
Independence from People: The system health checks should become independent of both the customer and the FSE, ensuring consistent and reliable results.
Trackability and Visibility: We seek to build a tool which will generate a report of the results & any further customer requests for tests, ensuring they are traceable and visible to relevant team members.
Predictability of SW Upgrade Times: The scripted tool should contribute to more predictable software upgrade durations, minimizing surprises and facilitating better planning.
