Job Description:
Join our legal team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a legal counsel, you'll provide crucial legal support across various business operations, working on diverse and challenging matters that span multiple jurisdictions. You'll draft and review commercial contracts, provide strategic legal advice, and help manage compliance and regulatory matters. This role offers comprehensive exposure to cross-border transactions and the opportunity to develop expertise in specialized areas such as government contracts, competition law, and data privacy. Working in a collaborative environment, you'll partner with cross-functional teams and contribute to the company's growth while developing your legal career at a global industry leader.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-depth legal counseling, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the healthcare and bioscience industry.
  • Strategically handle government agency investigations and mediations, developing strong legal strategies.
  • Defend against distributors' requests for mediation through effective legal representation.
  • Provide legal advice on marketing events and research activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal frameworks.
  • Handle internal investigations and compliance issues, implementing remedial action plans.
  • Review legal issues arising in corporate business and provide counseling on contractual risks.
  • Act as a business partner in management team meetings, providing legal insights and mentorship to support decision-making processes.


Requirements:

Education

  • Advanced Degree with no prior experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 2+ years of post-qualification experience, preferably with both law firm and in-house corporate experience
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Law
  • Graduated Law school or Admission to practice law in relevant jurisdiction

Experience

  • Expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, including government contracts, competition law, and data privacy
  • Experience with cross-border transactions and regional legal issues
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and projects independently
  • Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, pharmaceutical, healthcare) preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • English language proficiency; fluency in relevant local language(s)
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
  • Strong business acumen and ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Commitment to integrity and professional ethics
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks within established timeframes
  • Travel may be required for business needs
