As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that has a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our mission to life every day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. We offer our global teams the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping advance science to tackle some of the world’s toughest challenges—such as protecting the environment, ensuring food safety, and helping find cures for cancer. Join a team where your work truly makes a difference.

About the Role and Work Environment

At our Eindhoven site, we develop, build, and test advanced Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). Working with your team, you’ll test and deliver custom microscopes on time, meeting high-quality standards to ensure precision and reliability for our customers.

Ready to Make an Impact?

Building, calibrating, and testing a TEM can take 6 to 12 months before it is shipped to customers. As a Senior Test Technician, you will take ownership of the system, ensuring it is aligned and tested to the highest standards, contributing directly to the success of our sophisticated microscopes and customer satisfaction.

A Day in the Life:

  • Working Hours: You will work day shifts with the flexibility to decide when your workday begins. Most team members start between 07:00 and 09:00.

  • Cleanroom Procedures: Before entering our high-quality cleanroom, you will change into a specialized cleanroom outfit to ensure the quality and safety of the working environment.

  • Daily Start: Your day will begin with a team whiteboard session to discuss the status of your system and share any challenges.

Team: You will join a diverse and close-knit team of 10 to 20 colleagues, divided into four groups: Metrios, Spectra, Krios, and Baseline. The role of a system tester is highly varied, and your tasks include:

  • Replacing and cleaning samples in the holder, inserting the holder into the system, or filling the system with liquid nitrogen or blowing it off.

  • The core of the job is aligning electron microscopes, checking lenses, and performing calibrations. Additionally, you will create STEM images to view samples like silicon at the atomic level.

  • You will proactively address system issues and collaborate closely with colleagues, trainers, troubleshooters, and operations engineers.

Education:

  • MBO Level 4 (Secondary Vocational Education), Bachelor’s, or Master’s Degree.

Experience:

  • Some work experience (1-2 years) is a plus, but not required. What matters to us are your technical skills and proactive attitude!

  • Technical Interest: You have a strong curiosity about technology and a learning mindset.

  • Plus:

    • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.

    • Experience testing sophisticated electromechanical systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Are you passionate about technology and want to work with our sophisticated and innovative systems for the long term? The ideal candidate will possess the following traits:

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous with work instructions and quick to spot errors.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong technical insight to address challenges systematically.

  • Proactive & Independent: Takes initiative and responsibility for tasks and systems.

  • Flexible & Adaptable: Able to adjust to changes and stay organized in dynamic situations.

  • Grit: Focused and committed to resolving complex technical issues.

  • Hands-On: Enjoys working directly with systems to ensure their accurate functionality.

Are you ready to play an important role in a dynamic and innovative environment? Then we would love to hear from you!

Career Path:

We offer plenty of opportunities for growth, both within and outside the Manufacturing department. You can progress to positions such as Lead Test Technician, Troubleshooter, or Trainer, or move into other departments like Engineering or Research & Development.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment:
