Role Description

The Chief Information Security & Privacy Officer (CISO) at Thrivent Bank in Formation serves as the process owner for all assurance activities related to the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of customer, business partner, employee, and business information. This executive leadership role ensures compliance with Thrivent's information security and privacy policies while working closely with executive management to define acceptable risk levels. You will establish and maintain a corporate-wide information security and privacy management program, safeguarding critical information assets in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor a strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management program aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate directly with business units to facilitate risk assessment and management processes, including information security and cybersecurity risk assessments.
  • Develop and enhance an information security management framework to support scalable growth.
  • Interact with related disciplines through committees, ensuring consistent application of policies and standards across all technology projects, systems, and services.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the enterprise's information security organization, fostering a culture of security awareness.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to raise awareness of risk management concerns and drive proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with overall business technology planning, offering current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems.
  • Develop and maintain information security and privacy policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards, applicable laws, and regulations such as GLBA.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the privacy and security of all data collected, stored, or transmitted by the organization.
  • Manage and investigate security incidents and privacy breaches, ensuring compliance, coordinating response activities, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Execute annual GLBA risk assessments and stay abreast of industry best practices, cybersecurity threats, disaster recovery strategies, and evolving privacy regulations.
  • Lead training programs, audits, and compliance reporting to maintain Thrivent Bank's leadership in secure banking practices.

  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, or Certified in Privacy (e.g., CIPM).

Preferred:

  • Experience in financial services or banking, particularly with federal regulations like GLBA.
  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • Demonstrated success leading security programs in a regulated environment.

Role Description
