Role Description

Thrivent is seeking a visionary Design Manager, Bank to lead the creation of our groundbreaking integrated banking experience (DBX). This newly established role will unify our banking offerings with investments, insurance, and generosity into one intuitive digital platform. You'll build and mentor a cross-disciplinary design team, champion user-centered design principles, and partner with product and engineering teams to deliver exceptional, high-quality experiences.

Starting with core features like account balances and document access, you'll evolve cash management tools including deposits, bill pay, and spend tracking. Shape the long-term vision to replace our current third-party solution. As a strategic leader, manage capacity planning, prioritize initiatives aligning with business goals, and uphold rigorous design standards. Excel in communication and collaboration to influence product strategy, advocate for users, and drive design excellence organization-wide. This pivotal position guides our growing design team during this exciting initial phase.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a cross-functional design team including product designers, UX writers, UX researchers, and other specialists as needed. Effectively manage people and drive multiple related product areas.
• Develop processes and approaches for tackling complex design problems using proven methods, anticipating challenges, and facilitating cross-functional team engagement.
• Master problem-framing to establish innovative starting points leading to high-quality solutions. Lead solutions in undefined problem spaces with a holistic product experience perspective.
• Build and mentor a high-performing design team, fostering growth, collaboration, and adherence to user-centered design principles.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define and deliver intuitive banking features from concept to launch.
• Conduct capacity planning, prioritize design workstreams, and align with business objectives to ensure timely, impactful delivery.
• Champion design excellence through critiques, standards enforcement, and advocacy for user needs in strategic discussions.
• Drive research, ideation, prototyping, and testing to create seamless experiences for cash management, deposits, bill pay, spend tracking, and more.
• Influence product roadmap by presenting design insights, user data, and vision for Thrivent's DBX platform.
• Stay ahead of industry trends in fintech UX/UI, accessibility, and digital banking innovations.

• Experience building platforms replacing legacy/third-party systems.
