Role Description

The Director of Operations at Thrivent plays a pivotal role in overseeing the function and performance of operations and support staff. Reporting to the CEO and employed through our trusted partner Gateway Associates, this position is essential for aligning departmental processes with the company's vision. You'll supervise staff, establish innovative processes, procedures, and protocols, and collaborate closely with executive leadership to propel Thrivent forward. This leadership role demands a strategic thinker who can foster a high-performance culture while ensuring operational efficiency. Detailed Responsibilities

  • Promote Thrivent’s mission, culture, and core values through exemplary day-to-day leadership and management practices.
  • Drive key initiatives that enhance firm profitability, streamline operations, and achieve strategic business objectives.
  • Develop, execute, and oversee workflows, processes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to optimize practice efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to assess and determine staffing needs, ensuring the right talent aligns with organizational goals.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training and onboarding plans for new hires to accelerate team integration and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain accurate job descriptions that clearly define roles and expectations across the operations team.
  • Manage support staff comprehensively, including schedules, attendance tracking, payroll, benefits administration, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Establish clear criteria to gauge team effectiveness, productivity, and alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and development opportunities to foster growth.
  • Prepare and facilitate engaging weekly team meetings to communicate updates, align priorities, and boost morale.
  • Lead the strategy, development, and implementation of critical projects that advance operational excellence.
  • Drive a positive team culture emphasizing collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor industry best practices and recommend process enhancements to maintain a competitive edge in financial services operations.

Education & Experience

Demonstrated success in developing SOPs, managing cross-functional teams, and driving profitability initiatives. Experience with payroll, benefits administration, and performance management systems is essential.

Compensation Overview

Thrivent offers competitive compensation reflective of Germantown, Wisconsin's market rates for senior operations leaders. Base salary ranges from $130,000 to $160,000 annually, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonuses and incentives.
