Role Description

As an Engineer on the Modern Workplace Experience and Communications team, you'll create and modify Microsoft 365 solutions to address organizational challenges while managing communications vendor tools. Working independently and collaboratively, you'll develop core software capabilities to solve complex customer problems. Embrace new technologies like MS 365 Copilot to expand our AI portfolio, enabling a dynamic workforce where employees thrive, collaborate, and reach their potential. Our products empower smarter work through enhanced collaboration, community building, wellbeing initiatives, and seamless enterprise communication.

Detailed Responsibilities

Designing Solutions

  • Apply technical knowledge to drive customer outcomes in Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Independently problem-solve initiatives aligned with broader software engineering strategies.
  • Design solutions within core frameworks for team software products.
  • Participate in low-level design for product areas and team initiatives.

Designing Software

  • Employ critical thinking to resolve complex, customer-significant problems.
  • Develop core software independently and collaboratively, delivering stable, scalable, resilient outcomes.
  • Consistently meet or exceed team expectations for software quality and performance.

Learning and Applying New Techniques

  • Proactively learn emerging technologies to enhance product lifecycle and capabilities, including AI integrations like MS 365 Copilot.

Collaborating within the Team

  • Provide technical expertise in collaboration sessions to remove roadblocks.
  • Contribute to product planning, work decomposition, and implementation.

DevOps

  • Participate in team support rotations and build deep knowledge of focus subsystems.

Coaching Engineers

  • Offer technical guidance to resolve software issues.
  • Mentor junior developers through trainings and grooming.

Required Skills

To succeed in this Modern Workplace Engineer role, you'll need expertise in Microsoft 365 development, AI tools, and agile practices. Key skills include:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 platform (Power Platform, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with MS 365 Copilot and AI solution development.
  • Strong software design and problem-solving abilities.
  • DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and monitoring.
  • Collaboration and mentoring in cross-functional teams.

Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 5+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years focused on Microsoft 365 solutions. Proven track record in AI integrations, vendor tool management, and enterprise communications. Experience coaching engineers and participating in DevOps rotations preferred.
