Role Description

As a Thrivent Financial Advisor in Eastern Iowa/Cedar Rapids/Quad Cities, you will build a financial practice guiding Christians on their journeys to financial clarity, empowering lives of service and faith. Provide personal, actionable, and achievable advice while connecting clients to Thrivent products and programs. Develop and maintain genuine, long-term relationships throughout generations based on trust and understanding, with the ability to serve clients in your chosen community.

Make client appointments by leveraging your network and Thrivent’s reputation, delivering award-winning financial workshops, and marketing your practice. Detailed Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial planning sessions tailored to clients' faith-based values and life goals.
  • Analyze clients' financial situations, including retirement planning, investment strategies, insurance needs, and estate planning.
  • Leverage Thrivent's suite of products, including mutual funds, annuities, life insurance, disability income insurance, and banking solutions.
  • Host educational financial workshops and seminars in Cedar Rapids, Quad Cities, and Eastern Iowa communities to generate leads and build brand awareness.
  • Prospect and network within local churches, businesses, and community events to expand your client base.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FINRA and state insurance regulations.
  • Utilize Thrivent's advanced technology platforms for client relationship management, portfolio tracking, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Thrivent's field leadership and support teams to optimize practice growth and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay ahead of industry trends in financial advising.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in sales, financial services, or client-facing roles preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to obtain required licenses: Life, Health & Variable Contracts insurance licenses, Series 7 and Series 66 securities registrations.
  • Commitment to Thrivent’s comprehensive onboarding program, including up to 14 weeks of paid training.

Compensation Overview

Thrivent Financial Advisors enjoy uncapped earning potential through a competitive commission and incentive structure. Base salaries during training can range from $50,000-$70,000, with total first-year earnings often exceeding $100,000 for top performers. Established advisors in Iowa markets like Cedar Rapids and Quad Cities typically earn $120,000-$250,000+ annually, depending on assets under management, client acquisition, and production bonuses. Additional incentives include equity ownership opportunities, persistence bonuses, and leadership development programs.
