Join our Boston team and become part of a mission-driven organization that blends faith, finance, and community impact. Experience the difference of working for a not-for-profit financial services leader committed to your professional growth and personal fulfillment.

Role Description

As a Thrivent Financial Advisor in Greater Boston, MA, you’ll build a financial practice guiding Christians on their journeys to financial clarity, empowering lives of service and faith. Provide personal, actionable and achievable advice and connect clients to Thrivent products and programs. Develop and maintain genuine, long-term relationships throughout generations based on trust and understanding, with the ability to serve clients in your chosen community. Enjoy flexibility in controlling your schedule for optimal work-life balance while being supported by a collaborative culture.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Build and grow a financial advisory practice by leveraging your personal network, Thrivent’s reputation, and delivering award-winning financial workshops in Greater Boston.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial planning sessions, assessing clients' needs for investments, insurance, retirement strategies, and estate planning.
  • Make client appointments through networking events, community outreach, and targeted marketing campaigns tailored to Boston's diverse neighborhoods.
  • Provide expert guidance on Thrivent’s suite of products, including mutual funds, annuities, life insurance, disability income insurance, and banking solutions.
  • Host educational seminars and workshops on topics like debt management, college savings, and faith-based giving strategies.
  • Collaborate with Thrivent specialists in business development, marketing, technology, and engagement to optimize your practice.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FINRA and state insurance regulations.
  • Track and report on business performance metrics to ensure continuous growth and client satisfaction.
  • Foster multi-generational client relationships by understanding family dynamics and long-term financial goals.
  • Participate in local Thrivent chapters and community service initiatives to strengthen your presence in Boston's vibrant communities.

Required Skills

Our culture and our people are special. We’re looking for people who are – or want to become – part of the communities where clients live, work and worship. Successful Thrivent Financial Advisors possess:

  • Self-discipline and independence to drive business success.
  • Motivation derived from helping others achieve their financial goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills to guide clients effectively.
  • Passion for living a life of generosity, focusing on service over sales.

Education & Experience

Whether you’re a seasoned financial professional or looking for a career change, you could be a successful Thrivent Financial Advisor if you have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Backgrounds in outside sales, business management, education, ministry, hospitality, military, or related fields are highly valued. Previous financial services experience is a plus but not required—we provide extensive training. Must be willing to pursue and obtain required licenses: Life, Health, Variable Contracts insurance licenses, Series 7, and Series 66 securities registrations. Thrivent offers full support during this process. Ideal candidates are active in their local Boston communities and demonstrate a commitment to ethical, client-centered advice.

Compensation Overview

Earn uncapped income through a competitive commission structure, performance-based incentives, and bonuses. First-year earnings potential for top performers in Greater Boston often exceeds $100,000, with established advisors achieving $150,000–$300,000+ annually based on assets under management and client acquisition. Comprehensive support during training ensures a smooth transition to commission-based pay.

Benefits

Thrivent provides exceptional benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off; parental leave; and professional development stipends. Enjoy access to Thrivent’s proprietary financial planning software, marketing resources, and mentorship programs.
