Role Description

The Manager, Engineering leads a high-impact, hands-on practice-improvement team dedicated to elevating how our engineering community builds, delivers, and improves software. This strategic leader provides direction and shapes engagement models like flash builds, swarm days, and DevOps enablement to drive modern engineering practices. Partnering with senior engineering leaders, product teams, and stakeholders organization-wide, you'll identify constraints, pinpoint improvement areas, and structure immersive, outcome-driven coaching engagements.

Set clear objectives, guide priorities, and ensure your team exemplifies technical acumen with people-centered leadership. We're seeking an experienced, optimistic, transformation-minded leader who rallies teams, simplifies complex change, and empowers engineers to 'get better at getting better.' Foster accountability, progress, and continuous improvement across our engineering ecosystem in this remote-friendly role based in the United States.

Detailed Responsibilities

Designing Solutions

  • Review technical solution designs and architectures, providing expert guidance and direction.
  • Participate in system design and architecture discussions to align on optimal delivery approaches.
  • Review solutions and support seamless execution.

Developing Software

  • Demonstrate hands-on software development experience; read code fluently and stay current with best practices.
  • Ensure rigorous code reviews, leveraging strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Learning and Applying New Techniques

  • Promote and empower knowledge sharing, best practices, and dedicated time for team learning activities.
  • Anticipate technology trends and assess their business impact.

Collaborating Within Team

  • Support agile practices, learning events, and trainings.
  • Break down team barriers to enable peak performance.
  • Engage in sprint demos, understanding desired outcomes and delivered technology.
  • Partner with Product Managers on initiatives, features, and epics, offering technical expertise and outcome clarity.
  • Collaborate on strategies, operating plans, targets, and measures for product groups.
  • Cultivate a positive team environment with psychological safety, collaboration, respect, and appreciation.
