Role Description

The Practice Growth Director at Thrivent partners closely with Group Vice Presidents, Area Vice Presidents, and Market Directors to drive productivity, practice management, teaming, succession planning, advice delivery, and balanced sales growth in focus/target practices. This strategic role collaborates with distribution teams to align on business expansion goals, significantly growing Thrivent's business and client base.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Practice Growth Director holds full accountability for achieving growth targets in ANBP, advisor productivity, team expansion, and practice protection through robust succession strategies. This position works hand-in-hand with Teaming, Succession, and Junior Financial Advisor (JFW) Consultants to ensure seamless implementation of Thrivent's policies, programs, and best practices. As a remote role based in Minnesota (open to US candidates), it offers flexibility while demanding high performance in a dynamic financial services landscape.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Drive Revenue Growth: Lead efforts to increase ANBP, acquire new clients, and hit investment revenue targets (RFOB), owning these key performance metrics.
  • Enhance Advisor Practices: Boost growth and productivity for experienced financial advisors through succession planning, specialized role identification, annual business planning, and complex revenue-sharing agreements.
  • Champion Purpose-Based Advice: Demonstrate deep commitment to Thrivent's advice strategy, ensuring high-quality client experiences with protection and investment solutions.
  • Coach and Support Advisors: Proactively assist with business plans, goals, and tools; develop strategies for practice productivity including book management, client service models, and staffing.
  • Foster Collaboration: Coach advisors across tenures via peer forums, one-on-one sessions, and regional meetings to promote teaming and knowledge sharing.
  • Build Capacity: Retain top advisors, enhance practices through teaming, and add advice capacity for sustainable group growth.
  • Strategic Alignment: Partner with distribution leaders to align on growth initiatives and implement organizational programs consistently.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track metrics on productivity, sales growth, and succession to ensure target practices meet or exceed goals.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field; advanced certifications like CFP, ChFC, or CLU preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years in financial services, with 5+ years in advisor practice management, growth consulting, or distribution leadership. Demonstrated success in achieving sales growth targets and leading teams remotely.
  • Other: Series 6, 7, 63, and 66 licenses (or ability to obtain); strong alignment with Thrivent's mission.
