Work remotely across the United States with a preference for the New York City, NY area. Thrivent is seeking a talented (Senior) Associate, Enterprise Strategy & Development to drive strategic initiatives that shape our future in financial services, M&A, investments, and partnerships.

Role Description

The (Senior) Associate, Enterprise Strategy & Development will work as a key member of the Enterprise Strategy team. This position collaborates closely with internal Business Unit Leaders, Finance, Legal, and other functional groups to evaluate, execute, and report on enterprise-wide strategy projects across various functions and topics. You will partner with internal stakeholders and external consultants to underwrite and coordinate strategic acquisitions, investments (equity and debt), and partnerships, enabling Thrivent to execute its bold enterprise strategy.

In this high-impact role, you will perform fundamental analysis including financial modeling and valuation, research sector trends, manage M&A pipelines, create executive presentations, and lead special projects. This is an opportunity to influence Thrivent's growth in the competitive financial services landscape, from insurance and banking to wealth management and beyond.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Perform rigorous fundamental analysis, including financial modeling, valuation, historical financials review, projections, unit economics, strategic positioning, and value proposition assessment to evaluate strategic and economic risk-adjusted returns for enterprise projects and new deals.
  • Research relevant sector trends, market- and company-specific information, operational metrics, and valuation multiples to inform decision-making.
  • Manage Thrivent’s M&A and investment pipeline, monitoring relevant transactions and opportunities in the financial services sector.
  • Create comprehensive investment memorandums and presentations for Thrivent leadership, including the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate to develop Thrivent’s inorganic growth strategy, preferred tactics, and deal structures to operationalize the enterprise strategy.
  • Lead financial modeling, valuation, research, and financial due diligence coordination for inorganic initiatives and strategic projects, working closely with Finance and Legal teams.
  • Support end-to-end deal execution, including preparing transaction documents, financial analysis, due diligence coordination, and post-merger integration planning.
  • Work on miscellaneous special projects, providing strategic insights across business units to drive Thrivent's long-term success.
  • Communicate analysis conclusions effectively to the Enterprise Strategy team and senior stakeholders.

  • Proven track record in managing deal pipelines and supporting executive-level presentations.
  • Familiarity with financial services sectors such as insurance, banking, investments, and wealth management is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Compensation Overview

Thrivent offers competitive compensation packages tailored to experience and location. For this (Senior) Associate role, base salary ranges from $140,000 to $200,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses, equity incentives, and comprehensive benefits.
