Role Description

The Senior Associate in Private Equity Real Estate (PERE) is a pivotal role within our dynamic investment team, based in the heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This position supports the underwriting, structuring, execution, and ongoing monitoring of commercial real estate investments spanning diverse asset classes and geographies. Highly analytical in nature, the role provides broad exposure to portfolio monitoring, investment underwriting, due diligence, and risk management processes.

Working closely with investment professionals at all levels, including senior analysts and managing directors, the Senior Associate leads critical analytical work with a strong emphasis on portfolio modeling, market analysis, and execution support. Responsibilities overlap with those of an Associate but demand greater self-direction, project ownership, and leadership in complex initiatives. Detailed Responsibilities

• Independently monitor or provide oversight to associates in tracking the performance of existing investments, funds, and underlying property metrics, while developing strategies for portfolio optimization.
• Lead financial modeling (using Excel and Argus) for both current portfolio assets and new deal activity, ensuring accuracy and foresight in projections.
• Conduct in-depth research on markets, submarkets, real estate sectors, and fund opportunities with minimal oversight.
• Regularly update asset models and dashboards, analyzing variances between actual performance and original underwriting assumptions.
• Underwrite private real estate equity fund investments as a core member of the deal team, driving key analytical components.
• Assist in crafting clear, compelling investment committee materials and presentations that articulate business plans, key assumptions, risks, and return profiles.
• Collaborate in investment recommendation processes and decision-making forums.
• Manage general partner relationships and actively source new investment opportunities.
• Lead special projects, from ad-hoc analyses to strategic initiatives enhancing PERE operations.

• Demonstrated track record in financial modeling, deal execution, and portfolio management.

Preferred:

• MBA, Master’s in Real Estate, or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA).
• Experience with institutional investors or fraternal organizations.
• Familiarity with Minneapolis real estate markets and national trends.
