The Behavioral Services Specialist provides direct clinical services to patients, families, and significant others within the Emergency Department and medical floors. Based on clinical assessments and considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs, makes recommendations to physicians regarding appropriate services. The role involves working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, SMMH staff, and community providers to facilitate the initiation of appropriate services. The specialist may also provide crisis intervention or short-term, focused clinical treatment services.
