Position Purpose:
The occupational therapist assistant assists the occupational therapist in carrying out a patient’s established plan of care.
What the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant ( COTA ) Will Do:
Accountable for the application of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.
Utilizes a variety of modalities as appropriate to enhance patient progress. Instructs patients in varying programs appropriate to enhance performance and cultivate progress toward occupational therapy goals.
Communicates with and educates patients and their families regarding plan of care, home equipment recommendations, considerations for additional rehab, discharge planning, home exercise program, self-administered treatments, and family assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a graduate from an occupational therapy assisting program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Required: Associate’s Degree.
State of Michigan Occupational Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
American Heart Association BLS or equivalent.
