Description:
What you will Do:
  • Utilizes written MercyOne-North Iowa policies/procedures and universal precautions to properly collect, handle and store blood and other body fluid from patients as indicated above under “Age of Patients Served”.

  • Performs all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy, following all CLIA regulations.

  • Reports in-house final results to medical staff including immediate notification of any critical values.

  • Maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment with accurate records of service. 

  • Obtains assistance from Regional Laboratory Technical Consultant or Regional Laboratory Manager, if needed.

  • Performs records and evaluates all required quality control results. Performs proficiency testing.

  • Prepares and processes specimens for testing including accurate documentation when ordering for reference lab testing.

  • Maintains records and logs as required by regulatory agencies including controls, proficiency testing, work logs, temperature recording, maintenance records, and updates in policy/procedure manuals.

Hours/Schedule:

Full Time Days

Education:
1. High School Diploma and graduate of a medical assistant program with certification, or non- 
     licensed graduate radiology tech, or high school graduate with phlebotomy experience.
Experience:
      1. Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
