Director, Education and Professional Development

Location:           Fully Remote

Shift:                  Mon to Fri, 8 am to 5 pm

Position Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, direct and oversee standardized approach to all educational programs and materials related to general orientation and annual education requirements, in accordance with current applicable state, federal and local standards, guidelines and regulations across all Trinity Health PACE (TH PACE) owned and managed programs. Prioritizes educational needs within PACE, designs, and delivers training programs to improve knowledge, skills, and consistency in care delivery. Ensures completion of annual mandatory clinical education and skills validations. Serves as lead educator and works in conjunction with local PACE Organization (PO) educators during survey/regulatory plans of correction/past non-compliance needs; driving critical thinking skills across disciplines.

Leadership & Culture

  • Model and promote the Mission, Vision, Values, and Guiding Behaviors of Trinity Health and TH PACE.

  • Maintain a warm, calm, professional environment for participants, families, and colleagues.

  • Lead collaboratively across all divisions and contribute to shared organizational strategy and goals.

  • Build strong working relationships, foster teamwork, resolve conflicts, and support a culture of trust and accountability.

  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery plans as required.

Operational & Financial Oversight

  • Maintain departmental budgets, manage supply/equipment orders, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

  • Lead or support development of operational plans to achieve organizational goals.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as internal policies and ethics standards.

People Leadership

  • Recruit, coach, mentor, evaluate, and develop staff; address performance issues and support cross‑departmental growth.

  • Create structured onboarding pathways for new hires and promote staff confidence, retention, and reduced burnout.

  • Support employees in pursuing advanced clinical designations and gerontological certifications.

Education Program Leadership

  • Plan, develop, and oversee standardized educational programs, including orientation, annual requirements, and clinical in‑service training.

  • Conduct annual learning needs assessments across all PACE sites and disciplines.

  • Develop and maintain evidence‑based, age‑friendly (e.g., 4M’s) education aligned with interdisciplinary care models.

  • Facilitate monthly educational webinars and coordinate internal/external presenters.

  • Serve as TH PACE Administrator for the learning system, assigning and managing appropriate modules.

  • Review and standardize annual competency checklists and validation processes.

  • Collaborate with Informatics to learn and teach TogetherCare/Epic workflows and materials.

Quality, Clinical, and Program Development

  • Observe IDT meetings and frontline workflows to identify learning gaps and develop targeted education.

  • Ensure consistent implementation of evidence‑based care models across all centers.

  • Lead or support advanced program designations (e.g., ANCC Pathway to Excellence).

  • Oversee clinical and operational education initiatives across all PACE centers.

Partnerships, Affiliations & External Representation

  • Coordinate clinical affiliation agreements and serve as liaison to colleges and universities; ensure compliance with student activity regulations.

  • Present TH PACE programs at conferences, external forums, and within the Trinity Health system.

  • Identify opportunities for publications, conference presentations, and participation in the TH Nursing Summit.

  • Plan and coordinate internal PACE conferences or symposiums.

  • Maintain CEU providership and facilitate continuing education across disciplines.

Committees, Councils & Strategic Work

  • Facilitate the PACE Excellence Councils (PECs) and the PACE Leadership Council.

  • Serve as Co‑chair for the CORE Committee and participate in relevant Trinity Health committees.

  • Assist with grant writing, research initiatives, and preparation for new program regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Nursing required; Master’s in Nursing preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of nursing leadership experience.

  • CPR/BCLS Instructor certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Minimum one (1) year in a teaching or instructor position with experience planning and developing new programs preferred.

  • Action‑oriented, business‑savvy, and skilled in conflict management, customer service, and sound decision‑making.

  • Adaptable to change; able to work independently with strong judgment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across cross‑functional and virtual teams.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for diverse audiences.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, calendaring, and quick to learn new software.

  • Highly accountable with strong planning, organization, and program implementation skills.

  • Strong multitasking, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.

  • Able to research, analyze, and prioritize information effectively.

  • Willing to travel as needed to support position requirements
