Description:

POSITION PURPOSE:

A therapist on a Dual Diagnosis Community Treatment Team typically works with individuals who have co-occurring disorders, meaning they experience both substance abuse issues and mental health disorders. The role involves providing therapy, support, and guidance to clients to help them address both aspects of their condition simultaneously.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Conducting assessments: Assessing clients to understand their mental health and substance abuse issues, as well as any other relevant factors such as medical history, social support, and living situation. Developing treatment plans: Collaborating with clients to develop individualized treatment plans that address both their mental health and substance abuse needs. This may involve a combination of therapy modalities, medication management, and support services. Providing therapy: Conducting individual and group therapy sessions to help clients address underlying issues contributing to their dual diagnosis, develop coping skills, and make positive changes in their lives. Case management: Coordinating with other members of the treatment team, as well as external providers and agencies, to ensure clients receive comprehensive care and support services. Monitoring progress: Regularly reviewing and monitoring clients' progress in treatment, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure they are effective and meeting the client's goals. Crisis intervention: Providing crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute mental health or substance abuse crises, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support. Education and advocacy: Educating clients and their families about dual diagnosis, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms. Advocating for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare system and community. Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Human Services with 1 year of clinical experience, preferably diagnosing and treating behavioral and psychiatric conditions.
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) is required within six months of hire. Applicant is responsible
    for ensuring all requirements for licensure and/or certification are kept up to date and maintained within
    guidelines of their accrediting board
  • Valid driver license
  • Ability to drive an organization vehicle
  • Act 33/34/73 Clearances (Criminal/Child/FBI Department of Human Services)
  • Pre-Employment Drug Screen
  • Child Protective Services Law training (CPSL)
  • Working Knowledge and understanding of medication used in treating psychiatric disorders

HIGHLIGHTS/BENEFITS

WORK SCHEDULE This is an Exempt (salary) position.

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with flexibility to meet consumer needs.  Some non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends and holidays).  Will provide on-call services on a rotating basis, as part of a team. ($50.00 per day)
