POSITION SUMMARY:
Ensures that quality echocardiograms are performed on all patients in a timely and accurate manner. Participates in maintaining a safe
diagnostic patient care environment. Performs routine maintenance checks and cleaning of equipment used. Reads and assists
cardiologists with making appropriate diagnoses using accurate patient echocardiographic data.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
High school diploma or equivalent with some previous health care employment preferred. Requires two years on-the-job training in
Echocardiography. Echocardiography Registry Exam encouraged. BLS/CPR certification within three months of employment with
yearly re-certification.
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of
expertise.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess good communication skills, both oral and written. Reviews and corrects the menus of assigned patients to insure
nutritional adequacy. Must remain well versed in current therapeutic and nutritional concepts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Office/Clinical setting. Exposure Class I.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Heavy work: requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing and carrying.
· Maintains confidentiality related to patients, visitors and staff.
· Explains job role and purpose for test to patient and family.
· Explains procedure to patient and family and documents teaching per policy.
· Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures related to job function.
· Participates in PI projects related to service.
· Adheres to safety standards within service.
· Maintains (or directs to various unit support partners) patient safety
standards especially when transporting patients.
· Adheres to infection control and hospital isolation policies and procedures
as necessary.
· Interacts with patients in an appropriate manner sensitive to his/her stage
of human development.
· Verifies identity of patient by checking wrist ID band and calling
patient by name.
· Assists with education of students (healthcare field) or interns, PA’s, NP’s.
· Assists in orientation of new employees.
· Completes mandatory educational activities.
· Maintains required competencies.
· Abides by established personnel policies and procedures.
· Attends staff meetings.
· Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.
Pay Range: $19.20-27.85
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
