Saint Mary's Hospital - EMS - Waterbury CT

Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an EMS Supervisor, located in Waterbury, CT, affiliated with Saint Mary’s Hospital.  Come and join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators. You would be responsible the coordination of organizational activities to assure the smooth consistent delivery of clinical services.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for all activities that occur within assigned shift. 

  • Takes an active clinical assignment in a flycar or Ambulance as required. 

  • Assigns crews to clinical response and daily housekeeping activities for each shift.  Assures crew completion of assigned daily chores. 

  • Responds to all major EMS incidents in the assigned service area and initiates or assumes responsibility for implementing medical incident command structure.

  • Performs other administrative and operational duties inclusive of managing scheduling, supplies, facilities, fleet, health and safety, and special operations as assigned.  Participates in required meetings and trainings.

  • Initiates First Report of Injury documentation and initial investigation of all reported accidents involving company personnel or equipment while on duty in accordance with established Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Assures the conduct and performance of the assigned shift is within the established framework of the organizations policies, procedures and organizational benchmarks. Manages all incidents that arise during the course of an assigned shift.  Completes duty roster in response to sick call in accordance with policy.  Adds additional unit hours as authorized by policy or leadership.

  • Conducts performance reviews, initiates and provides timely follow up on Performance Improvement and Corrective Action Plans.  May orient and precept employees. 

  • Investigates unusual incidents and prepares written reports for organizational purposes as assigned. 

  • Inventories, distributes and tracks equipment assigned to personnel at the start and conclusion of each assigned shift.  Reviews all PCR, narcotics, accountability logs, inventory, equipment maintenance and repair order request data to assure its completeness and entry in the appropriate data management systems and prepares it for processing prior to the close of the assigned shift. 

  • Functions as the facilitator for project teams and participates in other activities as assigned by leadership. Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork. Willing to assist where needed.

Work Hours/Shift:

40 hours, 6am- 6pm, 36/48 hr Rotating Shifts.  Must be willing to travel to all locations.  Ability to work rotating shifts, days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays with the ability to respond to immediate recall, participate in mandatory hold when required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate.  Associate’s degree preferred.

  • Three (3) years’ of EMS experience with at least two (2) years as a Paramedic associated with a busy EMS service preferred.

  • Active Paramedic licensure in good standing within the State of Connecticut.  Valid drivers license with a driving history acceptable to insurance carrier.

  • American Heart Association ACLS and PALS Certification.  NIMS 700,800 Certified.  ICS 100, 200, 300, 400 Certified, preferred.

  • Maintains all medical control requirements for medical practice authorization at the Paramedic level.  Knowledge of state and local EMS laws, rules, protocols and regulations.  Progressive experience working with and leading multi-disciplinary teams involving various levels within an organization. Must be willing to travel to all locations.  Ability to work rotating shifts, days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays with the ability to respond to immediate recall, participate in mandatory hold when required.

  • Capability to independently analyze and solve a variety of difficult situations. Able to make decisions quickly and be self-directed. Able to define and share a strategy and vision; align resources toward achievement of results; lead and embrace change. Analytical and strong organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written ability.
