Description:
10 hours shift - 7 on and 7 off

The Pharmacist II will prepare and dispense parenteral, enteral, and oral medications, monitor patient drug therapies, and provide drug information. The Pharmacist II will also direct support personnel.

What a pharmacist II will do:

  • Reviews, prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols.

  • Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.

  • Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians, as needed.

  • Provides drug information and counseling to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.

  • Provides work direction to pharmacy support personnel, verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.

What a pharmacist II will need:

  • One year of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy preferred

  • Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Five-year Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

  • Advanced training in at least one specialty clinical area, preferred.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification may be required (at discretion of manager).

Schedule: 2nd Shift
Hours: 10‑hour shifts
Rotation: 7 days on / 7 days off
Details: Staff work a full week on and then receive the following week off, repeating on a bi‑weekly cycle
