Description:

Position Purpose:

Install, service and maintain all refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heating equipment in accordance with standard trade practices, applicable codes and safety regulations. Responds to HVAC/Refrigeration calls on a continual basis.  Work on complex problems that may involve a modification and partial redesign of an HVAC or refrigeration project.

What you will do:

  • Performs various duties to operate, maintain and repair equipment to provide heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.

  • Installs pipes, fitting, fixtures and controls for new installations of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation equipment and systems.

  • Repair HVAC and Refrigeration Systems/Equipment.

  • Troubleshooting HVAC/Refrigeration equipment.

  • General responsibilities of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic.

  • Contributes to the productivity and efficient operation of the Engineering Department.

  • Contributes to the philosophy of quality care and human dignity at the hospital.

  • Contributes to the effective operation of the hospital by demonstrating dependability in job performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus formal training in refrigeration, heating and air conditioning.  Training in electronic/electrical/pneumatic controls is required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in installation and repair of refrigeration and HVAC system and operations, including digital and pneumatic controls.  Familiar with air balancing equipment and procedure.

  • State of Connecticut HVAC License is preferred.

  • Work requires the ability to resolve complex problems requiring the use of basic scientific, mathematical or technical principles and in-depth, experienced based knowledge.

  • Work requires the ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions.

  • Requires the ability to read and write English.
