**About the Role**

**Uber Courier :**

Courier is one of the fastest growing businesses at Uber. It is an on-demand C2C package delivery service used by small businesses and consumers.Ā We have recently crossed 1B in ARR and are still scratching the surface.Ā The product is very popular in Brazil & India and has a lot of headroom to grow in EMEA and US&C. Aside from core send & receive packages workflows, the product has many other use cases such as Store pick-ups, returns, intercity deliveries ( in BrazilĀ ) etc as well as we are piloting new initiatives such as XL & high value item deliveries. The tech team is spread across US & India.

**Fulfillment EM**

As you can imagine, fulfillment is the backbone for a package delivery service. Our north star is that every item should be delivered on time with 100% reliability. We have a lot of work to get there. As an EM for this pod, your role is to ensure we price the product portfolio appropriately , meet customer’s promises in terms of ETA/ETD, bring transparency across post trip experience for consumers & earners, build simple yet elegant support workflows and most importantly fulfill every order with high reliability & efficiency.

**What the Candidate Will Do:**

- Work closely with the PM, design and other eng leads to build an ambitious roadmap and execute with a sense of urgency.
- Embrace the startup culture and build a high degree of ownership & accountability in your team leading by example.
- Build strong relationships with many upstream and downstream teams - earner, matching pricing, payments etc to collaborate on shared goals.
- Thoroughly understand strengths and development areas for the team members, coach them to reach their full potential and grow their careers by providing impactful business opportunities.

**Basic Qualifications:**

- 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager having launched many successful products, led the team through technology migrations, introduced new processes to streamline execution & collaboration etc.
- 8+ years of experience writing production software in large scale distributed systems.
- Strong computer science fundamentals to help make the right technical decisions & tradeoffs for long term sustainable growth while allowing room for rapid experimentation.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, or Go
- Proficiency in upholding high standards of quality, reliability, and operational excellence through efficient review processes and data-driven improvements.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Strong ML background with experience in developing and deploying pricing algorithms for multi-sided real-time marketplaces
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment; Strong preference for previous experience in a startup.
- Clear communicator with the ability to motivate the team and influence the stakeholders to align on goals.
- Ph.D., M.S. or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Operations Research, or equivalent technical background with exceptional demonstrated impact.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year.
