Uber's rapid global expansion and diverse business models demand a sophisticated accounting and reporting function. In addition to managing daily operations, this team will integrate process improvements, and handle complex transactions, allowing us to scale effectively and with confidence.

This senior leadership position requires a strategic and hands-on accounting professional who can apply sound judgment and navigate the complexities of a rapidly expanding global business. This leader will serve as a crucial advisor and decision-maker for Uber's most strategic, complex, and intricate accounting and reporting matters.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned global accounting leader with excellent communication skills andĀ  deep knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and accounting operations.

**What You’ll Do**

Lead the following global functions:

- Technical Accounting
- Accounting Policy
- SEC Reporting
- M&A Finance & Integration
- Accounting Operations

Organization:

- Manage a global team with team members in San Francisco, Dallas, New York, Amsterdam, and India.
- Partner with key teams across the business, includingĀ  Strategic Finance, Corporate Development, Business Development, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Internal Audit, and Investor Relations.
- You will report directly to Uber’s CAO and your peers will include senior executives responsible for Revenue/Consolidation Accounting, Financial Risk Management (SOX), FinTech, Strategic Sourcing (co-wide), Transformation Office (Finance), Payroll, and Finance Operations (AR and AP) teams.
- The role is in-person and based in San Francisco.

Strategic and technical complexity:

- Responsible for developing and updating global accounting and SEC reporting policies.
- Manage complex accounting matters such as revenue recognition, VIEs, business combinations, loss contingencies, and debt and equity transactions.
- Advise executive stakeholders on the effects of alternative accounting conclusions on strategic M&A deals.
- Consult with executive stakeholders on external reporting matters including peer benchmarking, SEC trends, new reporting standards, and non-GAAP reporting.
- Liaise with the external auditor on significant audit matters including technical reporting, scope, approach, and fees.

Excellence in Record-to-Report Accounting:

- Responsible for the monthly and quarterly accounting close cycles.
- Lead the quarterly SEC reporting.
- Champion system and process improvements (including rollout of AI capabilities).
- Develop a high-performing team of accountants by providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.

**Basic Qualifications**

- CPA or equivalent professional accounting license (i.e., Chartered Accountant).
- 20+ years of technical accounting experience, including 10+ years in public accounting (reaching at least senior manager).
- 10+ years of experience working with publicly traded companies, either in public accounting or as part of a public company team.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Prior experience as Big 4 audit partner or director.
- Public accounting national office experience.
- Operational/industry experience at an executive level in accounting, covering areas such as technical accounting, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Technology industry.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$270,000 per year - USD$300,000 per year.
