**About the Role**

Our team is part of Odin, the Stateful Deployment platform at Uber. We are responsible for the deployment of Uber’s 30+ stateful technologies like MySQL, Schemaless, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, HDFS, among others. Our platform enforces rollout policies, gathers signals and enables lockdowns, ensuring that changes to stateful technologies are rolled out incrementally, safely and reverted if signals suggest a potential issue.

We are responsible for the platform making thousands of weekly deployments, serving hundreds of thousands container updates, spanning throughout millions of containers and exabytes across multiple geographical regions with availability zones in both Uber’s own data centers and multiple cloud vendors.

We have new and exciting opportunities in the space of onboarding k8s open source operators and deploying them safely into Uber’s ecosystem in platforms. Balancing rapid experimentation without compromising safety is top of mind. Building and expanding our Deployment platform is key!

**What you wil do**

1. Build elegant backend platform components for high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.
2. Build the deployment system for safe deployment of open source k8s operators.
3. Establishing a common model for incremental rollouts, enabling higher-order reasoning for automated decision-making, and ensuring critical safety features like rollbacks;
4. Collaborate with team members to maintain system health, ensure code hygiene, refactor, and enhance system robustness and resilience.
5. Promote best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability.
6. Work with motivated and curious teammates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

**What you will need**

**Basic Qualifications**

1. **Coding Skills**: Proficient in writing clean, well tested and elegant code.
2. **Architecture**: Understanding of distributed systems architecture, including consensus, convergence, data consistency, and performance/efficiency constructs. Ability to identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.
3. **Experience**: Proven experience building large-scale distributed systems with landed impact.
4. **Project Management**: Ability to work independently and manage tasks, from scoping requirements to launch.
5. **Continuous Learning**: Strong desire to learn, grow, and build best-in-class systems.

**Preferred Qualifications**

1. **Solution Design**: Partner with senior engineers to design reliable solutions for business use cases in highly distributed systems.
2. **Software Engineering: experience with the k8s ecosystem and infrastructure systems;**
3. **Problem Solving**: Ability to identify and resolve performance and scalability issues within their team.
4. **Implementation**: Implement solutions in Go, focusing on clean, readable code with unit and integration test coverage, and running it in production.
