Assembler III is responsible for fabricating component parts to customer specifications.  Fabrication methods include mig and tig welding, operating presses and machining, programming robotic and CNC machines.  Works under immediate supervision; relies on specific direction and instructions.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

o    Ability to use and read a tape measure to the 32nd.

o    Read blueprint drawings to identify measurements required for products and set up jigs to the correct measurements for assembly.

o    Able to identify different types of raw materials, secures and maintains correct component parts and supplies required for the operation.

o    Completes work area set up.

o    Fits parts together in accordance with prescribed instructions or proper jig set-ups and in accordance with quality standards.

o    Experience in welding components and operate presses and machinery in addition programming robotic and CNC machines.   

o    Stack, package, and band completed products in accordance with established procedures, and create proper identification of materials and products.

o    Prevents and controls waste of raw materials.

o    Conducts quality inspection to ensure compliance with standards.

o    Ensures work area is safe, clean, and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.

o    Completes any pre-shift/startup equipment inspection checklist as required and reports any problems or concerns to supervisor.

o    Maintains production records as required.

o    Wears proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.

o    Participates in safety, continuous improvement and other programs and meetings, as requested.

o    Always conduct yourself in a professional and respectful manner with all employees.

o    Make a conscientious commitment to come to work every day and be on time.

o    Assist other departments and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

 

Education and/or Experience

o    High school diploma and equivalent work experience within a manufacturing environment.

o    Minimum of 2-3 years of experience welding components or running machines.

o    Must pass internal welding test

o    May have certification on area of expertise.

o    Ability to follow direction and basic knowledge and understanding of blueprints. 

o    Ability to stand for a full shift and able to lift at least 75 pounds.

o    Requires a basic knowledge of power hand tools and ability to read a tape measure.  

o    Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Skills and Abilities

o    Ability to work in a safe manner

o    Demonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directions

o    Demonstrate ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, product labeling and numbers

o    Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools

o    Demonstrates experience with welding steel and aluminum components

o    Demonstrate working knowledge of basic math, including fractions

o    Demonstrate ability to stack and package material properly

o    Ability to understand and suggest efficiencies and productivity improvements

o    Ability to pay attention to surroundings

o    Ability to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipment malfunctions

o    Ability to understand basic verbal and written instructions in English.

o    Ability to read a tape measure

o    Demonstrate hand-eye coordination

o    Ability to work under immediate supervision

o    Ability to pass a drug test

o    Ability to work hours mandated by management
