General Summary

The Transportation and Fleet Specialist is responsible for the coordination of administrative tasks to ensure Company fleet assets and truck drivers operate in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies, including assisting the hub/plant leadership teams in maintaining truck driver qualification files.

Works under general super vision; relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; follows pre-established guidelines and common practices to perform job.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Becomes Tenstreet system subject matter expert regarding driver qualifications files and the pre-hire screening to hire process.
  • Handle administrative set up for drivers and plant team members in Samsara and Tenstreet
  • Schedule and conduct training as needed
  • Manage and monitor driver qualifications and distribute related reports
  • Conducts regulatory audits on driver qualification files and work with hubs/plants to ensure driver files are always compliant.
  • Conducts and deciphers driver pre-screen checks through the Clearinghouse portal
  • Conducts and deciphers driver pre-screen checks through PSP portal.
  • Conducts and deciphers driver pre-screen checks through the MVR portal
  • Tracks and communicates expiration dates for driver CDLs, DOT Physicals and Medical Self-Certifications
  • Attends driver safety meetings if requested
  • Performs other reporting and regulatory administrative duties as needed

Job Specifications

  • Minimum high school diploma: associates degree is preferred in administration or related area.
  • Minimum one to three years of experience in administration/dispatching or transportation.
  • Minimum familiar with standard DOT and FMCSA concepts, regulations, practices and procedures; solid working knowledge in this area is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Preferred understanding on company policies, practices, and procedures.

Skills

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking
