General Summary

The Jr. Estimator is responsible for the accurate estimation of Siding and Cladding materials and labor needed in commercial and multi-family projects, according engineered and designed plans.

Works under general supervision; exercises some discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis.

Willing to train, commercial siding/cladding experience preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary function is to produce accurate and timely estimates, which will result in profitable jobs and revenue. Land work!
  • Produce estimates in a timely fashion, according to the bid schedules that are created by the lead Estimator.
  • Will train using On Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with reading and writing skills - emails, letters, proposals.
  • During the bid process, it is your responsibility to speak with the customers, informing them if we are bidding the project, relay questions, send RFIs as needed and gather the appropriate information to compile a complete bid.
  • Review all plans and specs at time of bid to ensure accuracy.
  • Produce well written, detailed and accurate proposals for our bids with project specific inclusions and exclusions, in addition to many boilerplate items. These proposals are meant to clearly outline our scope, so as to avoid any confusion down the road. Detailed to the point that we could essentially build the project based off the proposal.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date bid information in the company’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) pipeline software. This includes schedule information, feedback on pricing, contact information, % hot fields or more.
  • Bid Deadlines are very important. This position requires flexibility in hours as necessary to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • Minimum high school graduate.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in related field/responsibilities.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience commercial construction or multi-family construction.
  • Commercial cladding/siding experience preferred

Skills and abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Strong math skills including algebra and trigonometry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Ability to learn estimating software
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, including customers, builders, peers, and management
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, and work under little supervision
  • Ability to sit/stand at a desk for prolonged periods of time, be mobile in the work environment, and work hours mandated by management.
  • Ability to pass a drug test
