General Summary

PLC controls technician installs, programs, maintains, and troubleshoots Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) used in industrial automation, ensuring automated machinery and control systems operate efficiently and safely. Works under general direction of the Maintenance Manager; exercises discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis; and high degree of creativity is expected.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting.

  • Perform routine maintenance on systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving technical issues with control systems and related equipment.

  • Conduct system tests and inspections to identify potential problems and implement solutions.

  • Work with electricians in troubleshooting electrical or electronic issues.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Assist in preparing detailed technical reports on system performance, issues, and resolutions.

  • Update system documentation and manuals as necessary.

  • Develops electrical PM procedures and evaluates and updates all as needed.

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Installation and Configuration:

  • Assist in the installation and configuration of Operational Technology hardware and software, including PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI, sensors, and network devices.

  • Follow detailed technical instructions and blueprints to ensure accurate setup and integration of equipment.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • Education/Knowledge: High school diploma or general equivalent degree (GED) or higher.

  • Specialized training in PLC's or equivalent work experience.

  • Two or more years hands on maintenance experience in an industrial setting.

Skills and abilities

  • Understanding of industrial control systems and operational technology. Experience with Allen

  • Bradley and Ignition systems is preferred.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI, sensors, and network devices.

  • Must be able to read and understand repair manuals, wiring diagrams, machine diagrams, and other resource materials in order to troubleshoot and repair a variety of equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.

  • Must be able to use and understand various types of precision measuring instruments and interpret their data as needed to perform the above tasks.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.

  • Ability to lift and carry moderate weights and work in physically demanding conditions. Conduct · Self-managing; works well under little supervision.

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.

  • Good interpersonal skills and good communicator.

  • Process oriented.

  • Eagerness to learn.

  • Be a team player and support the Company’s goals.
